History

In mid 2007 Martindale Baptist Church asked Pastor Scott to consider starting a new church in a property they were willing to lease. Pastor Scott and his family came down to Martindale to hear the vision and to meet with the church and Bluebonnet Baptist Association.

The plan was to start a new church in a renovated building on Hwy 142 with a lease of 3-5 years to grow it. If God called the Mills family here it would be a cooperative effort to start the church. The church would be supported by the Southern Baptist of Texas state convention, the Bluebonnet Baptist Association, Martindale Baptist Church, CrossRidge Church, Forest Hills Baptist Church, Everyday Christian Fellowship, and First Baptist Kyle.

The vision was clear but the decision was difficult. Scott loved the church he was serving in and he struggled with the call to be a church planter. He was right, God had not called him to be a church planter; He had called him to be a founding pastor. God made it clear that this was His leading and in January 2008 Scott and his family moved to Martindale Texas to begin this new chapter in their lives.

Harvest Community Church was born and its history is still being written...
