Scott Mills - Pastor

Scott Mills is the pastor of Harvest Community Church. He has been married to a beautiful wife, Melissa, for over 10 years. They have a daughter named Ella and a son named Jacob who bring joy to their life daily. Scott and Melissa met while attending Texas State in San Marcos (formerly Southwest Texas State) and have a passion to see Christ's church grow.

Scott has a background in finance with a degree in economics from Texas State University. He spent almost 8 years in the finance industry before leaving for full-time vocational ministry. He did a little of everything in those 8 years from banking & mortgages to investing & retirement help.

Scott's spiritual journey has taken him all over the world. Scott was saved when he was 13 years old and he gave his life to full-time vocational ministry when he was 19, but was not exactly sure what that would look like. He had a passion for missions and believed God may be calling him to the international mission field, so he went on a year long mission trip to the Middle East with Campus Crusade for Christ. After returning to the States from one of the most rewarding years of his life he felt God beginning to lead him to serve Him in a local church setting.

Scott became the part-time Associate Pastor at Martindale Baptist Church for almost 3 years before moving to attend seminary at Southwestern in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated with a Master of Arts in Christian Education and joined the staff at CrossRidge Church in Little Elm Texas as the Executive Pastor. While at CrossRidge Scott finished another Master's degree, this time in Divinity, from Rockbridge Seminary.

It was at CrossRidge that Scott saw God do amazing things. In less than 4 years the church grew from less than 200 in worship to 700 with over 300 baptisms in that time span. During that time Scott started to understand that his call was to the local church, but it was also to missions. He came to realize that what God wanted was for him to help grow "missional churches."

In mid 2007 Martindale Baptist Church called and asked Scott to consider starting a new church in a property they were willing to lease. Scott struggled with the call not believing he was a church planter. He was right, God had not called him to plant a church he had called him to be a founding pastor. God made it clear that this was His leading and in January of 2008 Scott and his family moved to Martindale, Texas to begin this new chapter in their lives.

John Smith - Worship/Youth Pastor

John and Elena SmithMy name is John Smith, really.  I have been leading worship for over 14 years.  I bought my first guitar when I was 19 years old after spending a weekend on a spiritual retreat.  It was during this time that I first saw and heard someone leading worship in an acoustic style, and I have been playing and singing every since.  I am now the worship/youth pastor at Harvest Community Church in Martindale Texas.  I have been here for the last year, and before that I was leading worship and working with an after school program for T Bar M Camps.  It was during this time that God would introduce me to my wife Elena.

Elena and I were married October 4, 2008, and I married way over my head.  It has been an incredible year, and God has grown us greatly.  Elena is my best friend, and I know that God has put us together to give glory and honor to Him.  It is our hope and prayer that He is glorified, and that we continue to use the gifts that He has given us.  We will continue to lead worship in whatever forum God allows, and as long as He allows us.  We believe that worship is a lifestyle, and not just a part of a service.  We hope to lead people to a place where they can have a face to face encounter with the living God, and then take that out into the world and worship Christ in every aspect of their lives.

I think singer/songwriter Shawn Groves said it best when he said, “Worship in not a song.  Worship is our response to God with all that we are.  It’s all that He is.  All that He has done, is doing, and will do in, through us, around us, and in spite of us, but it’s not just a song.  Worship is our response with all of our lives and everything that we’ve given to all that God is.  So if we come to a place and raise our hands and we raise our voices but we don’t  stretch our hands out when we leave this place to feed the hungry, clothe the poor, and care for the sick; then all we’ve done is worshiped a singer or a song.”  We look forward to worshipping with you!
